Melbourne Police Investigating Murder of Alphonso Jacobs

MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — Melbourne Police are investigating the murder of Alphonso Jacobs, 31, of Melbourne.

According to Melbourne Police Commander Vince Pryce, patrol officers received a report of a shooting on Monday in the 700 block of University Boulevard (see map above) at approximately 4:20 p.m.
Upon the officers’ arrival, they discovered Jacobs with multiple gunshot wounds. Jacobs was stabilized on scene and transported to the hospital in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries.
Investigators are working to determine a motive and a suspect in this incident.

According to Pryce, investigators believe a teal-colored older model four-door Saturn may have been involved.
Investigators will be canvassing the area and talking to members of the community in an attempt to gain any new information in the investigation.
