One Injured In Runway Mishap At Merritt Island Airport

FAA will be conducting investigation
BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office responded to an aircraft accident at about 2 p.m. Saturday on the runway at the Merritt Island Airport.
The incident involved a yellow single engine airplane with a sole occupant who lost control while taking off and came to rest just past the edge of the runway.
According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, the occupant sustained injuries and was airlifted to Holmes Regional Hospital. The injuries are not considered life threatening.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will be conducting the investigation into the cause of this accident.
The Merritt Island Airport has resumed normal operations.
