BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Florida Institute of Technology is recognized as a top tier National University by U.S. News & World Report for the fifth straight year. In the just-released 2015 edition of the magazine’s “Best Colleges” rankings, the university is named a Tier 1 Best National University.

U.S. News assesses nearly 1,600 of the country’s four-year colleges and universities in its annual study. Florida Tech was again listed as the second-highest ranked private National University in Florida, behind only the University of Miami.
The 56-year-old Melbourne-based Florida Tech is classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a Doctoral Research Intensive university, which distinguishes it from institutions that only offer degrees at the bachelor’s or master’s level.
Florida Tech President and Chief Executive Officer Anthony J. Catanese said the university’s mix of quality academic offerings and excellent career placement means Florida Tech grads are groomed for success.

“Ninety-five percent of last year’s graduating students are employed, serving in the military or enrolled in graduate school,” said Catanese.
“The value of a Florida Tech degree is found in the success our graduates experience once they enter the world of work, ready and well-prepared to contribute to the greater good.”
Also significant in the rankings, Florida Tech was again recognized as the number two National University in the country for fostering international student experiences, behind only New School in New York.
U.S. News states: “In a global culture, befriending and learning to collaborate with students from other countries can be rewarding personally and professionally.” Fostering a culture of understanding that helps students perform in the international workplace remains one of the university’s strategic priorities.
Florida Tech was also listed among the magazine’s 2015 “Best Colleges for Veterans.” The rankings recognize universities that “participate in federal initiatives helping veterans and active service members apply, pay for and complete their degrees.” The university is certified for the G.I. Bill and participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program.
Meanwhile, Florida Tech continues to earn additional recognition for financial as well as educational value. The university has risen to the top 200 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2013-2014. The rankings, powered by Thomson Reuters, acknowledge the best universities across the globe, and Florida Tech was recognized as an international leader in research.
The website, PayScale.com ranks Florida Tech graduates’ mid-career median salaries in first place among Florida’s universities.
Annually recognized as one of America’s “Top Colleges” by Forbes, Florida Tech is also honored by The Princeton Review and recommended as a “Best in the Southeast” university.
