BCSO Investigating Death In West Melbourne

WEST MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation on Sapphire Street in the unincorporated area of West Melbourne.

Earlier today, while attempting to locate a wanted person inside the residence, deputies discovered two deceased individuals. Homicide agents and crime scene investigators are on scene and actively investigating the incident.

The identities of the decedents are 42-year-old Michael Barker and 26-year-old Kayla Hemby. Autopsies for the decedents are being scheduled for tomorrow. The initial investigative findings do not support any other individual being involved. The investigation is ongoing.
