DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA — Daytona Beach City Commissioner Robert Gilliland was arrested and charged with assault on a 66-year old man.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Gilliland was arrested on a battery charge, and has since bonded out of jail. He is suspected of punching 66-year-old Alan Robinson outside the Pelican Bay subdivision after an argument.
Gilliland showed signs of intoxication but was not arrested on a DUI charge because he wasn’t behind the wheel when officers arrived.
