Five Earn Eastern Florida Student-Athlete of the Week

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Five athletes share honors as Eastern Florida State College Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 5.

• Women’s soccer: Sophomores Jamie Perriello and Samantha Solis and freshman Asmara Holmes.
• Men’s soccer: Sophomore Farias Juarez.
• Volleyball: Sophomore McKenzie Price.
Perriello, a midfielder and from Boca Raton, Florida and Boca Raton Community High, scored the winning goal in overtime as EFSC defeated 2013 NJCAA Division I national runner-up Navarro College 2-1 in overtime on Saturday. She is EFSC’s leading goal scorer with five.

Solis, a defender from Orlando, Florida and University High is anchoring a defense that has allowed only three goals in six victories.
Holmes, a goalkeeper from Silver Springs, Maryland and John F. Kennedy High, made several key saves against Navarro and has allowed two goals in 432 minutes in six games.

Juarez, a midfielder from Alajuela, Costa Rica and Colegio Redentorista San Alfonso, recorded an assist in Eastern Florida’s 5-2 victory over Darton State College on Friday and scored twice in the Titans 8-0 victory over Webber International’s junior varsity on Sunday.
Juarez is Eastern Florida’s third-leading goal scorer with seven and has five assists for 19 points, also third-highest on the team.

His play in the midfield has been vital to Eastern Florida’s 9-2 record and seven-game winning streak.
Price, a setter from Carson City, Nevada and Carson High, is ranked eighth nationally in assists with 808. She has a .409 hitting percentage and 36 service aces, recording three in Friday’s four-set victory over Webber International’s junior varsity.
