Florida Tech’s Wide Receiver Terrance Bynum Honored

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech redshirt freshman receiver Terrance Bynum has been named the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week following his performance in the Panthers’ 34-31 loss to No. 4 North Alabama, it was announced on Monday.
Bynum gives Florida Tech six total freshman of the week awards on the season, adding to the five awarded to redshirt freshman quarterback Mark Cato.
The Mount Dora, Florida native caught a career-best four passes, totaling 32 yards. Bynum also caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Cato that tied the game at 24 apiece.
Additionally, the freshman wide out caught a crucial fourth down pass on the final drive that gave the Panthers a first down. Unfortunately, Florida Tech was unable to get the field goal unit onto the field in time to get the 45-yard field goal attempt off.
West Alabama quarterback Kyle Caldwell earned offensive player of the week honors, while West Georgia safety Carlos Hutton received the defensive award. Additionally, West Georgia punter James Dugan was awarded special teams player of the week laurels.
Florida Tech returns to Palm Bay High School’s Pirate Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 25 for the Homecoming Game against Mississippi College. Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 1 p.m. Florida Tech’s Homecoming Fest will take place Friday, Oct. 24 beginning at 6 p.m. and will feature a performance by national recording artists, SOJA. Head football coach Steve Englehart will also speak during the event.
