Ninth Annual Luncheon Raises Funds for Domestic Violence Victims

BREVARD COUNTY • INDIALANTIC, FLORIDA – For the third consecutive year, Serene Harbor’s signature annual fundraiser was completely sold out.

For the third consecutive year, Serene Harbor’s signature annual fundraiser was completely sold out. Serene Harbor is a domestic violence center that was incorporated in Brevard County in 1992. Since that time, the center has provided life changing services and safe refuge to more than 25,000 women and children who were victims of domestic violence.

A packed audience of more than 300 attended “Purses with a Purpose,” an annual luncheon, live auction and silent auction that raises funds for victims of domestic violence.

The luncheon was held at the Crown Plaza in Indialantic.

Serene Harbor is a domestic violence center that was incorporated in Brevard County in 1992.

Since that time, the center has provided life changing services and safe refuge to more than 25,000 women and children who were victims of domestic violence.

The Center assists more than 1,100 individuals every year.

Serene Harbor Director of Marketing Nancy Peltonen led the live auction, and introduced guest speaker Tiffany Carr.

Carr, the CEO of the Florida Coalition against Domestic Violence, discussed the importance of supplying resources to facilities that assist domestic violence victims.

“I have hope for the future, because of all of the volunteers and law enforcement officers that tirelessly work as advocates for victims,” said Carr.

“My vision for the future is that domestic violence will no longer be tolerated, and that all abusers will be held accountable.”

In addition to the live auction of designer purses and raffle prizes, attendees also enjoyed the major vendor expo full of product displays and giveaways.

The Hermes Sponsor for the event was the Remember to Share organization.

Dillard’s, Sendala’s and Sue Ann’s Bakery were Dior Sponsors; Brevard Cosmetic Surgery Group, Gator Automotive Group, GE, Louise Jones, Porter Premiere Dermatology, Everything Brevard and Millefiori served as Chanel sponsors.

Longtime supporters of Serene Harbor included the Brevard County Sheriff’s Department, the City of Melbourne, the City of Palm Bay, Circles of Care, Community Educators Credit Union, Holmes Regional Medical Center, and Harris Corporation.
