BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Tech’s men’s lacrosse team took a major step forward during the recent early signing period as 11 high school seniors signed National Letters of Intent, announced by head coach Ryan McAleavey on Friday.

The newcomers will enroll at Florida Tech next year and make up part of the 2015-16 team.

This year’s signing class has a heavy Mid-Atlantic flavor, with 10 of the new Panthers hailing from Maryland and one coming from New Jersey.

The group is comprised of seven midfielders, two defenders, an attackman and a goalie. The newcomers make up the largest early signing class in FIT men’s lacrosse history and are expected to have an immediate impact.

Many of the future Panthers received a lot of attention in the recruiting process as most were award winners and all-star nominees in their respective areas. The Panthers will head into their fifth year of competition in spring 2016 and are graduating their original recruiting class this fall.

McAleavey realizes the significant contribution this group of student-athletes is expected to have on the program.

“This is by far the largest early signing class that we’ve had here,” he said.

“The talent in this class shows the positive direction in which the program as a whole is headed. We are anticipating a lot of great things from these young men, and I’m excited to see what the future holds for them here at Florida Tech. We are glad that each one of these student-athletes made the decision to join us. It’s a great time to be a Panther!”
