BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA –  Ryan Cadle, 16, of Palm Bay, died Saturday morning as a result of injuries he suffered when he was struck by a vehicle on Friday night.

According to police, Cadle was crossing US 1 from Ballard Drive on his bicycle Friday about 7 p.m. when he was struck by a southbound vehicle driven by Veronica Dome, 79, of Melbourne Beach.

Cadle was transported to the trauma center at Holmes Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday morning.

There is no pedestrian crossing at that location and Cadle’s bicycle was not equipped with lighting.

After preliminary investigation, it does not appear that speed, nor any other driver error, was involved in this crash, according to the Melbourne Police.
