BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne Police Department responded to a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle on Friday at about 7:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found a subject in the area of North Harbor City Boulevard and Sarno Road. (See map below)

According to police, the vehicle and driver left the scene after momentarily stopping.

The pedestrian was struck while attempting to cross the road and is currently at Holmes Regional Medical Center in stable condition.

The driver, Douglas Anthony Gibson, 48, of Palm Bay, was arrested for leaving the scene of a crash with injuries and is being held on a $2,000 bond.
