Firefighters To Host Shopping Spree For Needy Children

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Firefighters Community Benevolent in partnership with Walmart on Malabar Road will host 25 children for a Christmas shopping spree that begins Tuesday at 9 a.m.

The Benevolent is donating $100 gift cards for each of the children and will help them select gifts during the event.  The participating children were pre-selected by personnel at Wal-Mart.

Palm Bay Police Department personnel will again host its annual Reindeer Run on Thursday, Dec. 18 beginning at 7 a.m. with breakfast at the Golden Corral on Palm Bay Road.

More than 100 children will be enjoy breakfast with costumed holiday characters and then be escorted by Santa and Mrs. Clause to Walmart on Palm Bay Road at approximately 8:30 a.m. where they will be paired with a police officer, or department employee to spend a $75 gift card.

Palm Bay Police officers and personnel are being joined West Melbourne Police, Sebastian Police and a representative from the Florida Wildlife Commission for the event.

The children were identified through the Brevard County School District.
