BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Following exemplary performances over the past week, men’s basketball forward Akeem Johnson and women’s basketball guard Kayk Wilson have been named Florida Tech’s Panther Student-Athletes of the Week.

Johnson spearheaded a spirited effort by the Panther reserves in a comeback that fell just short to Eckerd, falling 78-70.

The senior forward notched the first double-double of his FIT career, tallying 17 points and snatching 11 boards, both game highs. The Fort Pierce, Florida native also added four assists and hit six of his nine shots against the Tritons.

Wilson kicked off the week with 18 points and a pair of rebounds in FIT’s 99-70 drubbing of Albany State. The senior guard followed that up with 25 points and three boards as the Panther women remained the only unbeaten team in the Sunshine State Conference at 7-0, defeating SSC foe Eckerd 76-60. Over the two games, Wilson was 14-of-29 from the field and nine-of-20 from behind the three point arc.
