Panthers Men’s Basketball Will Play On ESPN Today

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Tech men’s basketball (9-2) will appear for the second time ever on ESPN3 and WatchESPN when it opposes Stetson (3-10) on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Edmunds Center.

The game will be an exhibition for FIT and a regular season contest for Stetson.

The Panthers last played on Dec. 20 at Claflin, falling 85-66 in Orangeburg, South Carolina. They were held to a season-low 38.2 field goal percentage and a season-low 18.8 three-point percentage. Claflin shot the best an opponent has on the Panthers this season at 56.9 percent.

Chris Carter poured in a season-high 27 points, 13 came from the free throw line. Jermaine Jackson was the only other Panther to score in double figures with 16. Corbin Jackson swatted away five shots and enters the week tied for first in all of NCAA Division II with 41 blocks. He is second in the country in blocks per game at 3.7.

Stetson has lost five straight and eight of its last nine games. The one win during the nine-game span was a 62-50 victory over Florida A&M on Nov. 29. The Hatters last took to the court on Dec. 22 and lost at Florida State, 63-59. Stetson was held to 37-percent shooting, but it won the rebound battle, 38-35.

Kentwan Smith led the Hatters with 21 points. Kyle Sikora notched a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Divine Myles had seven assists and he tied Sikora with three steals.
