BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Three members of the Florida Tech football team have been named to the Gulf South Conference FireSeeds Fall All-Academic Team, it was announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
Manny Abad, Ramsey Sellers and Chris Stapleton were all named to the prestigious list that honors players for their work in the classroom as well as on the field.
Sellers and Stapleton were both unanimous selections, while Abad posted the fourth highest GPA of any player named to the team at 3.79.
All three of the players were also bestowed with Second Team All-GSC honors earlier in the year.
The trio are the first players in FIT’s history to be named to the all-academic team. The Panthers did not receive a selection following their first season of competition in 2013.
To qualify for nomination, student-athletes must have a minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA, be a sophomore or higher, spent at least one year at the current institution and be a starter or a significant contributor.
The all-academic team was voted on by GSC faculty athletics representatives and sports information directors.
