Florida Tech Swimming Dives Back Into Action Today

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – After a strong fall season, Florida Tech men’s and women’s swimming will compete for the first time in 2015 on Monday, hosting Lewis at the Panther Aquatic Center.

The Panthers were last in action on Nov. 21, 2014, with the women falling 130-72 and the men being defeated 125-77.

On the men’s side, Camden Johnson took the 400-yard individual medley, touching in 4:19.88.

Takashi Worrell also registered a win, garnering the fastest time in the 200-yard butterfly at 1:55.30.

Nir Barnea, Nathan Hufnagel, Victor Westerlund and Thomas Steenberg joined forces for the final FIT victory, winning the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:09.24.

For the women, Shelby Pearce got the Panthers in the win column first, swimming the 400-yard individual medley in 4:44.67 for the win.

Dar Raz was also victorious, with her 2:05.24 just missing her record-time in the 200-yard backstroke by a couple of tenths of a second.

Raz also joined Madison Hart, Lauren Suarez and Bernie Murphy in the 400-yard freestyle relay, claiming the title with a time of 3:42.41.

Following Monday’s meet, FIT will compete again on Jan. 17 when the Panthers resume Sunshine State Conference action with Saint Leo traveling to Melbourne.
