William Boykin of Merritt Island Killed In Rockledge Crash

Kay Ferril, 64, of Rockledge, Willie Morgagne, 66, of Cocoa and Rose Neal, of Cocoa were all killed when the Infinity struck the front of their 2007 Hyundai Elantra head on, according to FHP.
William Boykin, 53, of Merritt Island, was killed Monday at about 1 p.m. in a one vehicle crash in Rockledge on U.S. 1, south of Barnes Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – William Boykin, 53, of Merritt Island, was killed Monday at about 1 p.m. in a one vehicle crash in Rockledge on U.S. 1, south of Barnes Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to FHP, Boykin was traveling northbound on U.S. 1 in the outside lane approaching the intersection of  Barnes Boulevard.

Boykin then began to slow as he approached the solid red traffic signal and veered onto the east grass shoulder.

The front of his Toyota struck a guide wire attached to a wooden power pole, then continued northbound striking the wooden power pole head-on, and came a to final rest on the east grass shoulder south of the power pole.

According to FHP, Boykin may have suffered a medical condition causing him to lose consciousness and travel off of the roadway.

Boykin was taken to Wuesthoff Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
