BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard Zoo is offering a unique experience for guests to test their skills and see if they have what it takes to survive in the wild in Florida.

Survival Weekend, presented by Space Coast Health Foundation, is February 14 through 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Participants will venture off the boardwalk in Wild Florida and into the wilderness to face a series of survival challenges.

Survival Weekend is included with Zoo admission.

The game begins inside a tent where guests are greeted by a guide and briefed on the ground rules.

Considering the essentials for survival – water, food, shelter and navigation – each group will be presented with an array of survival items to choose from and can only pick three.

These items range from a machete and poncho to dental floss and dryer lint.

As the group or family moves from station to station, the three items come into play in helping determine if the items chosen will aid or hinder their ability to survive in the Florida wilderness.

At the end of this adventure, guests will be able to assess how successful they were with the three survival items.

Partners working in conjunction with the Zoo during Survival Weekend include Boy Scouts of America Central Florida Council, Girl Scouts of the USA Citrus Council and Brevard County’s Master Gardener Program.
