Shaw was not only caught on the convenience store’s surveillance cameras, but he also gave the store clerk his wallet – complete with ID.

Cpl. Dave Jacobs of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office said they were able to quickly identify him because of the ID left behind in his wallet.

“You really don’t see this very often, but thankfully the clerk thought ahead and was able to find a way to identify the suspect,” Cpl. Jacobs told WKMG.

According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Shaw asked the clerk for $40, and when the clerk did not comply, surveillance video footage show Shaw dropping his wallet on the counter.

When the clerk rebuffed Shaw once again, he told the clerk he would come back with a gun, according to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

The clerk then gave Shaw $40, and the suspect fled, leaving behind his wallet and driver’s license.

With the assistance of the Aviation and K-9 Units, Sheriff’s Deputies quickly took Shaw into custody.

Shaw was charged with robbery and possession of drug paraphernalia, and is being held on a $15,500 bond at the Brevard County Jail.
