Volvo S40 raised from the Indian River

UPDATE

Cpl. Dave Jacobs, BCSO Public Information Officer and Media Relations Liaison, has verified that the remains discovered on Feb. 7 is human.

“The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the skeletal remains found on February 7, 2015, at Waterway Park, 600 West Merritt Island Causeway, Merritt Island,” said Cpl. Jacobs.

“At this time the Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed the remains are human, however, there is more testing being conducted to identify the remains.

“Earlier today, members of the Sheriff Dive Team entered the water to locate any further evidence and a vehicle was recovered from the Indian River. At this time it is not known if the vehicle is connected to the skeletal remains, and will all be part of the investigation. Members of the Homicide and Crime Units responded to the scene to collect the vehicle.”

This is still an active investigation and more information will be provided as it becomes available.

The car discovered in the Indian River, and raised today, is suspected to be that of Christian Nabbie, 18, an endangered missing adult who was last seen on last Nov. 23 in the area of Gatlin Drive in Rockledge.

It was reported that Nabbie was driving a black 2004 Volvo, 4-door, with a spoiler and sunroof bearing Florida tag DEL-U12.

Submerged Car Found Near Skeletal Remains On Merritt Island

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office dive team raised a Volvo S40 from the Indian River on Wednesday at about 1 p.m.

The car was raised in an area near the Waterway Park, located at 600 West Merritt Island Causeway on Merritt Island, where a passerby located what appeared to be skeletal remains on Feb. 7.

The skeletal remains were located in a shallow area of water of the Indian River, according to Cpl. Dave Jacobs, BCSO Public Information Officer and Media Relations Liaison.

On Feb. 7, Homicide Agents responded along with the Medical Examiners Office and members from the Crime Scene Unit and the Dive team.

The remains were transported to the Medical Examiners office for examination and identification.
