BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Baseball player Dulvis Borjas and basketball players Demetrius McReynolds and Paola Vasquez are the Eastern Florida State College Student-Athletes of the Week for the week ending Feb. 15.

EFSC-LOGO-180Borjas, a sophomore right hander from Cabimas, Venezuela and Grandview Prep, pitched eight scoreless innings, striking out nine batters, allowing four hits and one walk as Eastern Florida defeated Indian River State College 7-0.

McReynolds, a sophomore guard from Louisville, Kentucky, and Butler High, scored a game-high 31 points, pulled down eight rebounds, recorded three assists and a steal as Eastern Florida’s men’s basketball team captured its third straight FCSAA Southern Conference championship with a 92-77 victory at Miami Dade College.

Vasquez, a freshman guard from Ciales, Puerto Rico and Florida Air Academy scored 14 points, grabbed a team-high 14 rebounds and recorded two assists and two steals as Eastern Florida’s women’s basketball team clinched its first postseason tournament berth since 2003 with an 82-71 victory at Miami Dade College.

Vasquez also sank two three-pointers that increased a 65-62 Eastern Florida lead to 71-62 with 4 minutes and 49 seconds to go, squelching a Miami Dade rally from 21 points down.
