BREVARD COUNTY – The Merritt Island Mustangs (18-2-1) defeated the Largo Packers Friday night 5-0 in a quarterfinal playoff showdown at Mustang Field Friday night.

The win secured a berth into the State Semi-Finals for the Mustangs, setting up a semi-final matchup with American Heritage (19-1-2) Thursday afternoon on the Melbourne campus of Eastern Florida State College.

“They’re loose and excited now, all the things you want them to be right now. I didn’t see the nerves like there was in the past,” said Head Coach Scott Carswell after practice.

“They are just loose, confident and excited to be playing in another Final Four.” 

The winner plays for the State Title in Class 3A Friday night.
