EFSC Looks To Continue Win Streak Against Broward College

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Riding a four-game winning streak, three of them in the FCSAA Southern Conference, Eastern Florida’s baseball team heads south for two weekend games at Broward College.

Eastern Florida and Broward play at 6 p.m. today and 1 p.m. Saturday in Davie.

With 10 of 28 conference games in the books, Eastern Florida is 5-5 and 14-13 overall. Broward is 5-3 and 12-14.

The top two teams in the conference qualify for the NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Tournament with the third-place finisher competing in a play-in game.

Palm Beach State, which dropped back-to-back games to Eastern Florida on Tuesday and Wednesday, leads the conference at 7-3. Miami Dade is 4-4 and Indian River State 1-7.

Eastern Florida beat Miami Dade 5-4 in 13 innings on Saturday at home and then beat Palm Beach 2-1 in the ninth inning at home on Tuesday and 4-3 in Lake Worth on Wednesday.

In between, the Titans scored a 15-3 victory over Macomb Community College of Michigan.

After 27 games, freshman infielder Vinny Capra leads the Titans at the plate, batting .317 with 26 hits. His brother, sophomore infielder Nick Capra, is hitting .312 and leads the teams with 29 hits.

Sophomore outfielders Luis Silverio and Brandon Gomez share the team lead in home runs with three. Silverio leads in doubles with five, triples with two and total bases with 38.

Sophomore first baseman Freddi Ramos leads in runs batted in with 20.

The Titans have scored 122 runs and allowed 104. They have 214 hits to 174 for their opponents.

Pitching wise the Titans have a collective earned run average of 3.41 over 214 innings.
