BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Tech men’s and women’s tennis each picked up a home victory against Bluefield State on Monday at Fee Avenue Park, while the men’s squad also pulled out a monumental win against Division I opponent UCONN.
The Panther women had little issue with the Lady Blues, sweeping the match 9-0. After garnering all three doubles wins, FIT lost just nine total games on the day.
Chloe Chanley was particularly overpowering, defeating Laura Hernandez 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 3 spot.
The FIT men took two of three doubles points before closing out BSC, the top ranked team in the Atlantic Region, in singles with five victories.

Patrick Hernandez fell behind early but battled back to take down Anthony Braem 1-6, 6-1, 6-2. Braem is ranked No. 25 in Division II and is the No. 1 ranked player in the Atlantic Region.
In the No. 1 spot, Beau Fieldsend bested Platon Gud 6-4, 6-3.
Later in the day, the Panthers pulled out a thrilling match with the Huskies, 4-3. Although UCONN won two of three doubles matches, the Huskies only picked up one point as per Division I rules.
