BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Fine food, delicious cocktails and warm camaraderie – all await guests at the 12th annual Chopper Dropper set for Friday, March 13.

FIT_Seal-580The event, a key part of Florida Institute of Technology’s biggest fundraiser for athletics scholarships, the annual Sporting Affair XXIII held at Suntree Country Club, is about winning big cash: 2,000 numbered golf balls are dropped from a helicopter and the closest to the pin wins the grand prize of $50,000.

The Sporting Affair also features a golf tournament and hole in one shootout earlier in the day. The shootout could win one qualified participant $1 million. (Florida Tech image)

But with a cocktail buffet reception sponsored by Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Audi of Melbourne featuring food from Florida Tech athletic partners The Broken Barrel Tavern, Carrabba’s Italian Grill and Rodizio Grill, as well as a silent auction featuring amazing travel packages, unique sports memorabilia and more, and a 50/50 cash raffle that last year sent the winner home with $2,200, there is plenty to do before and after those golf balls drop from the chopper.

Speaking of golf balls, the Sporting Affair also features a golf tournament and hole in one shootout earlier in the day.

The shootout could win one qualified participant $1 million.

Sporting Affair and Chopper Dropper benefit Florida Tech’s 22 sports programs and more than 550 student athletes by generating funding for athletic scholarships.
