BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – In a battle of the Sunshine State Conference’s two most productive offenses, the No. 11 Florida Tech Panthers travel to Saint Leo for a three-game weekend series against the No. 25 Lions starting Friday at 6 p.m.

Rising to its highest ranking since March 2014, Florida Tech (19-1, 3-1 SSC) can expect a run-filled weekend at Thomas B. Southard Stadium.

Both clubs enter one-two in nearly every offensive category, including hits, home runs, runs batted in, runs scored, slugging percentage and total bases.

Showing balance, Florida Tech rounded out a sound 4-1 homestand on Tuesday with a 7-0 shutout victory over visiting Winona State.

In the win, eight starters tallied at least one base hit and freshman Tim Whalen improved to 3-0 in his first career start.

In addition, the Panther bullpen notched four scoreless innings, and has now allowed just seven earned runs in 54 total frames.

Previously ranked as high as No. 12, Saint Leo (19-4, 0-3 SSC) was swept in its SSC-opening series by Nova Southeastern before throttling Slippery Rock and Ohio Valley earlier in the week by a combined score of 34-3.

Third baseman Dylan Harris currently leads the league in hitting with a .453 batting average, and sports an impressive 20-game hitting streak.

Teammate Troy Sieber, meanwhile, holds the conference RBI lead at 31, and is second in the SSC with seven homers.

The Panthers hope to remain perfect on the road after claiming their first six contests away from Andy Seminick-Les Hall Field.

Head coach Greg Berkemeier’s team has a chance at win No. 20 Friday, a feat it didn’t accomplish until April 4 a year ago.
