POLICE: At Least One Child Dead In Palm Bay Stabbing

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The Palm Bay police have confirmed that a 6-year old girl is dead, and Detectives with the Palm Bay Police Major Case Unit are currently at the scene of a homicide that involve multiple victims.
According to Palm Bay Police, the mother had visible injuries and was taken into custody, and is being treated at the hospital where she is in stable condition.
At 5:57 p.m. emergency dispatchers received a 911 call from a home in the 1100 block of Kenmore Street NW in Palm Bay. The information received indicated that multiple children may have been injured or killed inside the home.
According to Palm Bay Police Chief Mark Renkens, when officers arrived on the scene, Jessica McCarty, 33, was armed and uncooperative.
Chief Mark Renkens said the ages of the victims stabbed range in ages from infant to 8-years olds.


The father of the children called 9-1-1, and when patrol officers arrived, they saw a woman outside the home armed with a knife.
They then found three children unresponsive with serious injuries.
Two children, a 5-month old and an 8-year old were transported to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando.
The investigation is ongoing.
