April IS National Child Abuse Prevention month

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA — Brevard County Fire Rescue in collaboration with Child Abuse Prevention Task Force (CAPTF) of Brevard is working together in April’s National Child Abuse Prevention Campaign.
The two organizations are utilizing the Pinwheels for Prevention program.
The pinwheel is a happy and uplifting symbol of childhood and represents the efforts to ensure the healthy development of children.
Brevard County Fire Rescue Station 83 was selected as the host for this year’s event.
Since Palm Bay is a large city, the exposure for Pinwheels for Prevention is increased. In the State of Florida, tens of thousands of children are subjected to child abuse.
The forms of abuse range in type and magnitude. Bringing awareness and prevention techniques to citizens can help make a difference.
Many children suffer from abuse each day that goes unreported.
Under Florida Law, anyone who suspects a child may be abused or neglected has a responsibility to report it.
If you suspect abuse to a child, please dial 1-800-96-ABUSE.
For more information you can visit CAPTFbrevard.org or visit anyone of the Pinwheel stations such as Brevard County Fire Rescue Station 83.
