Downtown Special Detail Units Arrest Purse Snatcher

 The Melbourne police arrested a suspect on Saturday night at about at about 1 a.m. after a report of a purse snatching at the Vapor Bar, located at 701 E. New Haven.
The Melbourne police arrested a suspect on Saturday night at about 1 a.m. after a report of a purse snatching at the Vapor Bar, located at 701 E. New Haven. The suspect, later identified as William H. Conklin, 35, snatched the victim’s purse and then fled on foot.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne police arrested a suspect on Saturday night at about 1 a.m. after a report of a purse snatching at the Vapor Bar, located at 701 E. New Haven.

The suspect, later identified as William H. Conklin, 35, snatched the victim’s purse and then fled on foot.

A perimeter was quickly established with the Downtown Special Detail Units and Road Patrol Units of the Melbourne Police Department.

Conklin was quickly located hiding in the rear of the building behind apartments attached to the bar and positively identified by the victim and two witnesses.

He had the victim’s property on him and around him where he was hiding and was charged with Robbery by Sudden Snatching, Grand Theft.
