TALLAHASSEE — House Democratic Leader Mark Pafford issues the following statement regarding Low Income Pool funding and the expansion of health coverage under the Affordable Care Act.
“House Democrats continue to support expansion of health care under the Affordable Care Act, a position that provides the best, and clearly stated, solution to a funding crisis created by years of inaction. We are glad to join with willing federal partners and a unanimous Florida Senate – in addition to business groups and hospitals who share the view. Existing plans to extend the opportunity for health care coverage to more than 800,000 Floridians are the right starting point. It’s the right thing for the people who would benefit, it’s the right thing for businesses who face the consequences of failure, it’s the right thing for our state budget and, as it has been for three years, it’s the right thing for Florida.”
