Raider Girls, Mustang Boys Win In Lacrosse District Finals

BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – The boys and girls lacrosse teams from Merritt Island and Rockledge high schools both reached the district finals at McLarty Field in Rockledge on Thursday night.

And it was split decision for the District 17 championships.

The Mustangs boys beat the Raiders 14-11 and the Raider girls beat the Lady Mustangs 11-5.

In the boy’s game, Mustang senior Reid Elkins led the team with four goals and four assists. Gus Meeking and Jordan Cox had two goals each for the Mustangs.

Several Raiders had two goals each, including Matt Dillon, Nick Choppe, Lucas Mergen and Matt Lanza.

In the girls match, Fabi Ramos for Rockledge led the way with five goals and the Lady Mustangs were paced by Katie Kunz and Meg Meldrum with two goals each.
