The Cause

Students are not only receiving free and reduced lunches, but many also take advantage of the free breakfasts offered by the school system and weekend food programs offered by partners such as “The Children’s Hunger Project.”

During the summer months these students families depend on local food pantries, like the South Brevard Sharing Center’s, to keep their children from going hungry.

“Summer is traditionally a hard time for many families who depend on the free and reduced priced school meals that their children receive during the school year,” said Keri Donald
of the South Brevard Sharing Center
.

“In South Brevard alone, there are over 15,000 students enrolled in the free and reduced lunch program – that is 55 percent of all students in the south area of Brevard.

“At the same time that this need for food is rising, donation levels typically drop during the summer. This leaves the South Brevard Sharing Center struggling to provide for the children in need in our community. The “A Night in Casablanca” fundraiser plans to raise enough funds to provide for these families while the children are out of school.

The Gaming

“A Night in Casablanca” Casino Fundraiser promises to be a fun night for all.

Gamers of all skill levels will enjoy their choice of blackjack, craps, roulette, and poker gaming tables or they can try their hands in the Main Event Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament.

The Poker Tournament gives 100 players a shot at the title of “South Brevard Sharing Center’s Poker Champion” for 2015 with the “bling” to take home to prove it. At the gaming tables the professional dealers can teach you a new game or give you tips on how to increase your luck at an old favorite.

All gaming is played using “Casablanca Dollars” fun money. At the end of the evening, all gaming winnings will be turned in and converted to Gaming Raffle Tickets. The Gaming Raffle Tickets will then be redeemed for a chance at winning one of our more than $35,000 worth of prizes.

Some of the top prizes in our Gaming Raffle and our silent auction included a gift certificate to Toyota of Melbourne; a Utah Ski Vacation and a number of other adventure packages; a personal tour of Washington D.C. by Katie Posey, wife of Congressman Bill Posey; exquisite jewelry from Kempf’s Jewelers; a prize from Infinity Bike Shop; and many other exciting experiences and goodies.
