Jose Lopez, 50, of Kissimmee Identified As Drowning Victim In Melbourne Beach

ORIGINAL STORY: May 25, 2015 – 7:25 p.m.

Jose Lopez, 50, of Kissimmee has been identified by authorities as the drowning victim in Melbourne Beach on Monday.

The victim died at Holmes Regional Medical Center, according to Melbourne Beach Police Detective Melanie Griswold.

Lopez’s family called from nearby Ocean Park to report him missing about 5 p.m., according to Detective Griswold.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE BEACH, FLORIDA – Brevard County Fire Rescue, along with the Melbourne Beach Volunteer Fire Department, reported being on scene of a possible drowning at about 1 p.m. Monday near Atlantic Street on Melbourne Beach.

First responders are giving the victim CPR.

According to Brevard County Rescue, preliminary reports for Brevard Ocean Rescue for the weekend are: Saturday, 5 rescues and 15 missing children.

So far for Monday: 5 rescues, with one possible drowning.
