BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Marking the fourth time in eight seasons as head coach, Greg Berkemeier has the Florida Tech Panthers back in the NCAA Tournament after securing the South Region’s No. 4 seed Sunday night.

Hosted by top-seed West Alabama, the Panthers will open the double-elimination tourney against an all-too-familiar opponent that actually ended their title dreams in their last postseason appearance in 2013 – Tampa.

The pair of Sunshine State Conference rivals will meet Thursday at a time yet to be determined, with the winner set to face the winner between Nova Southeastern and Lynn.

After a program-best 17-0 start to the year, Florida Tech rounded out the regular season with a 36-11 (13-9 SSC) record, its highest win total since 2010.

In addition to West Alabama, automatic qualifier Albany State is the other lone representative outside the SSC to receive a regional bid.

The South Region victor will earn a berth to the NCAA Division II Championship, held from May 23-30 at the USA Baseball Complex in Cary, North Carolina.

FIT has turned in a combined 4-6 record this season against NCAA Tournament competition.
