Florida Tech’s Allie Modica Named To IWLCA All-South Region Team

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – After an incredible first season donning the Florida Tech Crimson and Gray, Allie Modica will bring home yet another accolade. On Thursday the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association announced that Modica was selected to Third Team All-South Region.

This will be the sophomore’s third postseason honor as she was also named to the Sunshine State Conference Tournament Team on April 25 and First Team All-SSC on April 28.

The sports management major started every game for the women’s lacrosse team in its inaugural season.

Playing midfield this season, Modica was fifth in the SSC with 68 total points, finishing second on the team in both goals (51) and assists (17).

At the center circle, the Vero Beach, Florida native raked in a team-high 57 draw controls, good for fourth in the SSC. Besides securing the draws, Modica also won possessions for FIT with her effort on the loose balls, where she collected a conference-leading 54 ground balls, or on defense in which she was second on the team with 19 caused turnovers.

Being selected to the All-Region Team, Modica is now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American Teams, which will be announced on Thursday, May 14.
