Waves are looking mostly unrideable this morning. Late-morning's lower tide could help make the small waves more rideable by then. Surfers seeking an early morning surf session may want to focus on Cocoa Beach's northernmost beaches for a longboardable wave. — Sunday’s surf will remain in the thigh-high range with bumpy surface conditions from steady onshore winds.

SURF REPORT FOR June 5-7

SATURDAY: Surf heights are in the knee- to thigh-high range this morning with clean lines from an early offshore breeze.

Wave heights will increase during this morning’s high tide push with more thigh-high sets along Brevard’s southernmost surf spots.

SUNDAY: I believe Sunday’s surf will remain in the thigh-high range with bumpy surface conditions from steady onshore winds.

Cocoa Beach ocean temperatures now average 80 degrees.

Bob Freeman has been surfing Brevard’s waves since 1966. He was also the first to surf several of North Carolina’s remote islands in the mid ’60s and travels frequently to surf in Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Mexico and Hawaii. He provided his first surf reporting and weekend forecasts in 1968 live on WKKO radio from the RonJon Surf Shop on Cocoa Beach Pier. He was the 1968 Florida Men’s Surfing Champion and is the current Florida Legend’s Surfing Champion. He has gathered over 300 amateur 1st place awards in both shortboard and longboard divisions. He is a 2014 Inductee into the Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame.
