Cocoa Police Arrest Armed Meth Suspect After Traffic Stop, Foot Chase

Cocoa police officers have arrested an armed suspect after a traffic stop, and discovering a large amount of methamphetamine in the vehicle in the area of Dixon Boulevard and Highland Drive.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa police officers have arrested an armed suspect after a traffic stop, and discovering a large amount of methamphetamine in the vehicle in the area of Dixon Boulevard and Highland Drive.

According to Cocoa Police Lt. Eric Austin, officers stopped the suspect early Friday morning and he fled on foot. After a short foot chase, officers apprehended was arrested  the suspect. A firearm was recovered from the suspect, according to police.

Officers also found a device in the vehicle they suspected could be a pipe bomb.

According to Lt. Austin, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad was call in and destroyed the suspicious device, which was determined not a pipe bomb.
