BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne police officers shot and killed a person of interest in a recent local robbery spree, according to Melbourne police.

The shooting happened Sunday at about 11:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Burger King, located at 1514 S. Harbor City Boulevard.

Melbourne police had been seeking a suspect who matched the description of the victim for several robberies, and when officers approached the victim’s car, he displayed a gun, according to police.

None of the six Melbourne police officers who were involved in the shooting were injured.

The shooting is under investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
