Pregnant Woman Shot In Stomach Charged With Possession of Firearm By Convicted Felon

Amanda Ruiz, who was shot on June 6 while she was pregnant, has been arrested and charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
Ruiz, 27, who was eight months pregnant, and her husband Michael Ruiz, were discovered by police with a gunshot wound at 240 Interchange #102 in Palm Bay.
According to a police report, Michael Ruiz discovered Amanda Ruiz on the bed pointing a gun at her stomach, and when he attempted to take it, the gun discharged, striking the unborn male infant, who did not survive. Amanda Ruiz told investigators that she thought the gun was not loaded.
Both Amanda Ruiz and Michael Ruiz, who was hit in the hand, are recovering from their wounds.

Pregnant Woman Shot, Unborn Child Killed In Palm Bay
BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Police detectives are currently investigating a shooting involving a pregnant female and her husband.
According to Palm Bay public information officer Yvonne Martinez, at 3:17 p.m. on Saturday, patrol officers responded to 240 Interchange #102 where they found the female and her husband each had suffered gunshot wounds.
The couple was taken to the hospital. The female who was approximately 8-months pregnant is in stable condition however doctors have confirmed the unborn infant did not survive.
The male victim was also wounded is in stable condition.
The shooting is the result of a domestic related incident and the circumstances remain part of an active investigation.
No other information is currently available.
