BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Citizens of Palm Bay are being urged to complete a community survey to help identify priorities for future growth and development in Brevard County’s largest municipality.

The completion of the survey will help in securing millions of dollars in federal funding to address the priority needs identified in the survey.

The City of Palm Bay anticipates receiving approximately $4,000,000 in Federal funds to operate the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and the HOME Investment Partnership (HOME) program during the next five years beginning in 2016.

The types of projects previously funded include affordable and supportive housing, homeless shelters/services, housing rehabilitation, utility hook-up assistance, first-time homebuyer assistance, rental occupancy assistance, public safety, public facilities construction, infrastructure improvements, recreation facilities, economic development and public services for residents in Palm Bay.

Projects and services must primarily benefit low and moderate income individuals and families.

In order to apply for these funds, the city must submit a 5 year consolidated plan to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

One of the first steps in the process is getting feedback from the community. Individual survey responses are kept anonymous and will be one tool used to develop the 2016-2021 Consolidated Plan that prioritizes the expenditure of these funds.
