UPDATE: Florida Highway Patrol Identifies 11-Year-Old ATV Crash Victim

UPDATE: June 27, 2015 – 9:45 p.m.
The Florida Highway Patrol reports that Juan Carlos Melendez, 11, of Ocala was killed when a utility vehicle equipped with seat belts he was traveling in overturned near the wooded area at Rose Marie Place and Blounts Ridge Road at 6 p.m. on Saturday evening.
For an unknown reason, driver Derwin Rivera Figeroa, 24, of Kissimmee lost control of the vehicle and it overturned.
Melendez was not wearing a helment and Figeroa was not injured.
Melendez was pronounced dead at Parrish Hospital.
This crash remains under investigation.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Florida Highway Patrol reports that Troopers have responded to a wooded area in Brevard County near SR 46 and I-95 for a crash that involved an ATV, and a male child was pronounced dead at Parrish Hospital.
No other details are available at this time and the crash is under investigation.
