BREVEVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County families have a new, local option for specialty pediatric hospital care.

Under an agreement with Nemours Children’s Hospital of Orlando, Nemours will provide hospital-based pediatric physicians who specialize in the care of acutely ill infants, children and adolescents.

This will allow doctors from Nemours to provide on-site care at Wuesthoff Medical Center – Rockledge. The newly renovated pediatrics wing at Wuesthoff Medical Center – Rockledge consists of nine private rooms.

By September, newly recruited Nemours pediatric hospitalists will begin working closely with primary care providers and other pediatric specialists to care for children hospitalized at Wuesthoff Medical Center – Rockledge.

They will also be available to consult with the Wuesthoff Medical Center – Rockledge emergency department.

Nemours Children’s Hospital (NCH) opened in October 2012 in Orlando’s Lake Nona Medical City close to the Orlando International Airport.

NCH offers advanced pediatric specialty care never before offered in Central Florida including two pediatric interventional radiologists, a neurologist who specializes in the treatment of neuromuscular disorders and the only surgeon in the southeast who treats children living with intestinal failure.

There has been a great deal of support from local pediatricians and other members of the community for the new pediatric service at Wuesthoff and subsequent relationship with Nemours.
