Car, Space Coast Area Transit Bus Collide On Clearlake Road, Expect Delays

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa Police is working a traffic crash involving a passenger car and a Space Coast Area Transit bus in the 700 block of Clearlake Road at about 4:40 p.m. Tuesday.

According to Lt. Eric Austin of the Cocoa Police Department, the bus and car were traveling south on Clearlake Road when the car entered the lane the bus was in, and struck the bus.

Two juvenile passengers on the bus received minor injuries and the driver of the passenger car may have serious injuries, according to Lt. Austin.

“The driver of the car is at fault, said Lt. Austin in a release, “and she is receiving citations for no valid driver’s license and improper lane change/failing to yield.

The roadway is being cleared, but delays may be experienced. Dixon Boulevard to Fiske Boulevard or US 1 may be used as an alternative route.

The names of the victims are not being released at this time pending next-of-kin notifications.
