BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – The Children’s Hunger Project announced their third Annual Child Hunger Summit will be held on Tuesday, September 15.

The event, designed for leaders of faith-based congregations and organizations in the north part of Brevard County, will be held at the Holiday Inn-Titusville and will be jointly sponsored by United Way, Project Hunger and The Children’s Hunger Project.

Rob Rains, President of United Way, said, “As was the case for the past two Summits, this year’s event will bring awareness to north Brevard County’s faith-based leaders of the significant hunger issues local kids are facing. We know from experience that their congregations can help generate the change necessary to help hungry kids in their own back yard.”

Robert Barnes, Executive Director of The Children’s Hunger Project, said, “In a fast-paced presentation, experts will frame the dangers of childhood malnutrition and hunger as it relates directly to early childhood learning. Religious leaders will learn that the key to solving the problem is local, grassroots and within their grasp.”

Dangers such as inhibited cognitive development, doing poorly in school and more likelihood of adverse medical conditions are just a few of the problems associated with childhood hunger.
