Eastern Florida State Earns Top 50 Spot in NATYCAA Cup Standings

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida State College finished 46th overall and fourth among Florida colleges in the fourth annual National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) Cup Standings.
Iowa Central Community College captured the 2014-2015 scholarship college division top spot with 169.5 points.
Points were awarded based on a college’s performance in national tournaments. Eastern Florida competed in three, amassing 37.5 points.
Men’s golf earned 18.5 for finishing second, women’s soccer earned 17.5 points for finishing third and men’s basketball earned 1.5 points for its first round loss.
Eastern Florida finished behind fellow Florida College System Activities Association representatives Northwest Florida State (54.5 points – 40 for winning national titles in baseball and men’s basketball – and 14.5 for its women’s basketball team’s finish in its national tournament); Chipola College (40 points for national titles in softball and women’s basketball); and Indian River State College (40 points for national titles in men’s and women’s swimming and diving).
Eleven of the 24 Florida colleges that compete in the FCSAA amassed points among 209 colleges nationwide.
Iowa Central won national titles in wrestling, men’s cross country, men’s half-marathon and men’s and women’s indoor track and field.
California’s Mount San Antonio College (187.5 points) claimed the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup that combined standings for scholarship, non-scholarship and state association divisions.
