Five Juveniles Arrested After Car Chase With Melbourne Police

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Five juveniles were arrested after a car chase with the Melbourne police at about 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the area of Stewart Road and Aurora Road.
The suspect vehicle, a red SUV, which contained five occupants, refusing to pull over for the Melbourne police during a traffic stop.
According to police, the vehicle was located a short time later driving erratically on Wickham Road near Harper Road.
Due to the way the vehicle was being operated, a traffic stop was attempted again in the area of Nasa Boulevard where the vehicle refused to stop again.
Stop sticks were successfully deployed and the vehicle fled a short distance into Tropical Manor trailer park where it struck a parked car.
The five occupants fled on foot, and four were apprehended. All were juveniles. They were charged with resisting arrest without violence and one with violation of probation.
The owner of the vehicle was contacted and the SUV was found to have been stolen from the victim’s residence while she was asleep.
According to police, the driver eluded capture, and through further investigation, the driver was identified as a 15 year old juvenile.
He was taken into custody on Tuesday night without further incident and charged with Grand Theft Auto, Fleeing and Eluding, Driving Without a License, Reckless Driving, Leaving the Scene of a Crash and Resisting Arrest Without Violence.
