Up at Mims’ Holder Park, the Major baseball division saw Merritt Island cruise to a 16-3 victory in 4 innings Thursday night.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Up at Mims’ Holder Park, the Major baseball division saw Merritt Island cruise to a 16-3 victory in 4 innings Thursday night. 

Merritt Island’s B. Gay went 2-for-2 scoring 2 runs, and B. Barna had a 2-RBI home run to lead Merritt Island to a 16-3 victory in 4 innings.

Mims Little League got a double from B. Lind while H. Blake was 1-for-2 and scored 1 run.

Over in Junior baseball, also at Holder Park, Rockledge Little League and Mims Little League played an exciting game with many lead changes. Rockledge’s J. Brewer scored 2 runs and A.J. Hall hit a double and scored 2 runs.

But, Mims kept the heat on with help from J. Stewart and D. Woodruff who each scored 3 runs, and Woodruff hit an RBI triple.

Additionally for Mims, J. Rios hit a 2-RBI single. T. Ledford was hit by the pitch in the bottom of the 7th with bases loaded to bring in the winning run for Mims by a score of 10-9.

Thursday night’s Junior softball game that had been scheduled at McKnight Family Sports Complex in Rockledge, was moved to Monday, 6 July.

Tomorrow night’s Junior baseball game at Mims will determine the division Champion for District 22.
