Mims took the District 22 Junior Softball Championship title Monday night as they defeated North Merritt Island 22-21.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Mims took the District 22 Junior Softball Championship title Monday night as they defeated North Merritt Island 22-21.

Mims now advances to the Florida Section 3 Tournament located in Palm Coast July 11th.

North Merritt Island Little League met Mims Little League in a weather-delayed match-up Monday night/Tuesday morning at Rockledge’s McKnight Family Sports Complex.

North Merritt Island led through the 5th inning behind Kiley Lambert and Sydney Wickman who each went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and Tyler Blackmon who was 5-for-5 with 3 RBI.

For Mims, Destiny DJesus was 3-for-4, Olivia Pavick was 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and Hannah Trew was 4-for-6 with 5 RBI. Mims went into the bottom of the 6th trailing 20-12, but fought through a 9-run inning to finally take the lead.

North Merritt Island answered back to tie it in the top of the 7th, but Mims’ Makensee Campbell batted in Kayla Farris for the 22-21 win.

The final game in the Major baseball division at Mims’ Holder Park was postponed due to weather.

That game has been moved to Tuesday night.
