Melbourne Man Sentenced To 8 Years In Federal Prison For Running Tampa Pill Mill

Brian C. Weiler, 56, of Melbourne sentenced
TAMPA, FLORIDA — U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Kovachevich sentenced Brian C. Weiler, 56, of Melbourne, to eight years and one month in federal prison for conspiracy to distribute and dispense oxycodone not in the usual course of professional practice.
The Court also ordered him to forfeit his Florida pharmacist license and imposed a forfeiture money judgment in the amount of $274,400.
Weiler was found guilty by a federal jury on December 12, 2014.
According to evidence presented at trial, from February 2010 through May 2011, Weiler worked at two Tampa pharmacies: VIP Pharmacy on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard; and New Tampa Pharmacy on Waters Avenue.
During that time, he filled hundreds of prescriptions for very large doses of oxycodone.
The recipients included drug addicts and members of doctor shopping organizations who traveled from Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee.
Owners and operators of the VIP Pharmacy and New Tampa Pharmacy have previously been convicted of federal conspiracy charges.
This case was investigated by a joint task force including the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, and the Temple Terrace Police Department.
It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Maria Chapa Lopez.
