CHICAGO, ILLINOIS – Merritt Island professional golfer Marco Dawson will get a little help from his friend Mike Haridopolos when he takes on the best in the PGA Senior Golf Tour this weekend at the Encompass Championship in Chicago.
Dawson is currently ninth in the Champions Tour overall points standings and will have former Florida Senate President Mike Haridopolos carrying his golf bag, and offering encouragement and support as he shoots his way through the North Shore Country Club golf course on his quest to another senior tour victory
Haridopolos and Dawson became friends when they were neighbors living in Merritt Island.
“Marco knows my passion for golf and was willing to put me on as a caddie for a few tournaments,” said Haridopolos.

“My only request is that we follow the oath of ‘do no harm.’ He assured me that he picks his owns clubs for each shot and reads his own putts.”
Haridopolos, an avid golfer, tennis and outdoors man is passionate about his love for sports.

“I’m there for support and to live vicariously through Marco,” said Haridopolos.
“Believe me, I will not make it on the Champions Tour when I turn 50. Marco is a true pro and real gentleman in allowing me to be a part of the action.”
Haridopolos will provide regular insider updates exclusively for Space Coast Daily readers and golf fans during the three day tournament.
There will be 81 of the best Champions Tour Professionals competing over 54 holes of stroke play.
His unique perspective from walking along with Dawson will place him right in the middle of the action as he gets up close and personal with the greats of the game when they compete for the coveted trophy and a shot at the $1.9 million in prize money.
Some of the most recognized names in golf, including World Golf Hall of Fame members Hale Irwin, Tom Kite, Bernhard Langer and Nick Price will compete. Major champions and fan favorites such as Jeff Sluman, Chip Beck, John Cook, Fred Funk, Jay Haas, Corey Pavin, Kenny Perry, Rocco Mediate and Steve Elkington will also be among the players.
“I’m really looking forward to the event in Chicago,” said Haridopolos.
“Hopefully the readers will enjoy the first hand account of what it is like to be “inside the ropes” at a Champions Tour event.”
